This retreat costs $2,495. We know that's a lot of money. For some men, it's not possible — and those are often the men who need it most. The Heroes' Journey Scholarship Fund exists so that money is never the reason a man doesn't get the help he needs.

What you should know:

This is the inaugural Heroes' Journey. The Scholarship Fund is new and still growing — we're actively fundraising through donations and exploring other avenues like crowdfunding. Because of that, scholarship slots are limited: 1–2 per retreat session.

That means this process is a bit more involved than the standard application. You'll fill out a longer form below, and if your application moves forward, we'll schedule a phone interview. Not an interrogation — a conversation. We want to understand your situation and make sure this retreat is the right thing for you right now.

There is no judgment here. Asking for help is not weakness. It's one of the bravest things a man can do. We just want to make sure the limited scholarships go to men who truly need them and are ready to do the work.

If you are selected, no one will ever know. Not the other participants, not the elders, not the staff. You arrive on the same bus, wear the same shirt, sit at the same table. Your financial situation is completely private. Always.

What to Know Before You Arrive

Scholarship recipients follow the same guidelines as every other participant. No exceptions, no differences.

You will not see anyone until the reveal. At check-in, your sleep mask goes on before you see another participant. You'll hear voices and first names — but no faces. Not on the bus. Not until you arrive at the lodge and the masks come off together. This is intentional.

No personal belongings. No phones, no wallets, no watches, no branded clothing. You arrive with nothing but yourself. We provide your shirt.

Exceptions: Medically necessary items are always allowed — medications, CPAP machines, anything prescribed. Nicotine sources (vape, dip, patches) are permitted.

No alcohol. No drugs. This is a completely substance-free weekend. No exceptions.

Agreements

I understand my phone and all personal belongings will be collected at check-in. I will have one 5-minute call per day. Emergency contact will be provided a direct number. *I understand no personal belongings are permitted except medically necessary items (medications, CPAP, etc.) and nicotine. *I understand this is a completely alcohol-free and drug-free weekend. No exceptions. *I agree that what's said at the retreat stays at the retreat. Complete confidentiality. *I understand a photographer may be present. Photos are taken at a distance and will not interrupt the experience. *I wish to opt out of all photography. (Optional — check only if you want to opt out.)

I affirm that I have no convictions, pending charges, or history involving sexual violence, sex offenses, or crimes against minors.
